Personal Watercraft Cleared for Tahoe Use
Twenty-six models make the cut.
March 25, 2002

Sea-Doo's LRV DI is one of 26 personal watercraft models that have been cleared for use on Lake Tahoe.
More than two years ago, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, a regional government body made of representatives of the U.S. government, the states of California and Nevada and local agencies surrounding the lake, enacted a regulation to only allow new-technology motorboats to operate on Lake Tahoe. Sailboats using old-technology (carbureted) two-cycle engines were exempted. The generally held public perception is that personal watercraft have been completely banned from the lake.
There are currently 26 personal watercraf models legal to ride at Lake Tahoe. These models are the cleanest, quietest watercraft available. The following personal watercraft meet or exceed requirements set by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and are legal to operate on Lake Tahoe.
